Arroyo Hondo, CA.

As far as sunsets go, I got really lucky with this one. I had already marked the spot for a shot, and was just waiting for some magical light to happen. It  had been raining for most of the day and I saw a break in the storm so I thought I’d head out for a look. It was still drizzling while I set up my camera, (thank god I loaded my film before I left the house) and I waited for what I hoped would be a great sunset. Sure enough, there was a break is the clouds and the sun shot through and blanketed the entire beach in a warm glow. I got three shots off. The first was too dark, the second was what you see here, and the third was also to0 dark. As fast as it came, it disappeared. The rain started to come down in droves and I barely made it back to my truck without it soaking through my camera pack.

The location is called “Arroyo Hondo” and is located just north of Goleta, CA. That stretch of coastline is
totally untouched and clear of any human nonsense. No trash or graffiti, just nature at its best. There is nothing more depressing than being surrounded by nature, only to have it polluted with some idiots leftover sack lunch. (Trust me, its not that hard to carry your trash out when you leave.)  Anyways, that’s my rant for the day.  As with most of my photos, this was shot using a Pentax 6/7, and Fuji Velvia 50 ISO.
